There are three basic rules for photography that will be shown in this blog: Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, and Depth of Field. There will be two examples for each rule.
Using the rule of thirds means that the objects in a photo should be aligned with one of the lines that separates the photo into thirds. In the first image, the Horizon is lined up with the bottom line, the tree is on the right line, and the sheep is also on the bottom line and very close to the left line intersection. In the second photo, the horizon is also centered on the bottom line.
Depth of Field is what is in focus and what is not in focus. In the first example, the flower in the front, outlined in red is in focus, everything else is not, which gives it field of view. In the second example, the pencil can be seen in detail while the rest of the image is out of focus, which also has depth of field
In the first example of leading lines, the red lines point towards the tree. Taking the the cracks in the rocks lead to the tree which is the main point of attention of the photo. In the second photo, the stone railing leads towards the people in the corner.
