Camera Angles

These are examples of different camera angles, what they are good for, why I like them, and some examples.

The first type is Extreme Long Shot. It is used to show a subject from a distance, and can establish an area. I like them because they can capture a wide area which makes it more immersive.

The next type is Long Shot. It gets the subject in the main area of the photo but they don’t take up most of the area. I use this to show the environment around the subject.

The next one is Extreme Close Up. It captures only one small area of detail. I use this for show intimacy with something, because usually you are close to what you love.

Next is Eye Level. This angle gives a more natural and neutral appearance. I use this most often because it is more familiar.

Finally, it is Low Angle. Shot from below eye level, typically it is used to have the effect of making the subject look powerful. I used it in this example to try to make the mountain appear larger and more dominating.
